About Highland Farms
Highland Farms, established in 2005, is a professional breeding operation dedicated to producing classic, naturally gaited mountain horses, primarily registered Rocky Mountain, Kentucky Mountain Saddle, and American Gaited Mountain Horses. In addition to their extraordinary, elegant beauty, these horses display a superb, gentle disposition, perfect for riders of all ages and experience levels. They adapt easily to the show ring or trail. They are hardy, thriving in diverse climates, sturdy and stalwart.
The Facilities
Our 150 x 50 foot uniquely styled barn features nine foaling stalls, each partially open to a fifty foot long run. This original design assures protection from adverse weather conditions while providing necessary ventilation and a sun porch for each horse. The barn also contains an indoor wash rack, automatically de-iced waterers, hay and tack storage and an indoor riding corridor for exercise in inclement weather. The property also features an arena and round pen, and adjoins three large lakes accessible by dedicated unsullied riding trails.
The Staff
The staff at Highland Farms is headed by farm manager, John Iozzia. John has experience at the highest level of thoroughbred racing, from coast to coast, from farm to track. Under his direction our horses are raised with loving care, gentled with patience and kindness, fed and supplemented with the finest products available and ridden with restrained enthusiasm.
